Laura Jean Willoughby Hendrickson, M.D., 62, suddenly in Chula Vista, CA, February 25, 2014. Proceeded in death by her father, William Allen Willoughby, and her brother William Louis. Survived by her son Eric Hendrickson of Chula Vista, daughter Tammi (Charles) Gripton, of Macomb, MI, and grandchildren Jack, Max, and Ella Gripton. Also survived by her mother, Lois Jean Willoughby of Tucson, AZ; siblings Anne (John) Reiss, Susan (Peter) Linetzky, Douglas (Kathy) Willoughby, and Bridget (Michael) Kelley, as well as many nieces and nephews. Former wife of CAPT Daniel L. Hendrickson, USN (Ret). A graduate of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and board-certified psychiatrist, Laura is a retired Commander USN (Medical Corps) and served as a flight surgeon and psychiatrist. A member of Harbor Presbyterian Church Chula Vista, she has ministered as a biblical counselor through the IBCD (Institute for Biblical Counseling and Discipleship) and CCEF (Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation), where she served on the board of directors. She was also an author, public speaker, and consultant through Gospel Balm Ministries. Laura was a tireless advocate for early intervention for autism. A private interment for family will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on March 6. A memorial service and public celebration of Laura’s life will be held at the New Life Presbyterian Church, 5333 Lake Murray Blvd, La Mesa, CA 91942 on Saturday, March 8, at 1 P.M.
